Savoring Thyme

a personal chef and catering service

WE’VE GOT DINNER, SO YOU’LL HAVE THYME

How it Works

Savoring Thyme Personal Chef Services saves you time and daily frustration by removing the aggravation associated with menu planning, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and kitchen clean-up.

After an initial phone conversation we will schedule a meeting to complete a detailed food questionnaire. This allows us to understand your food preferences and any dietary needs you and your family may have. From there, we create and customize your menu tailored to your specific preferences. All menus are submitted for your approval prior to the scheduled service day.

On your scheduled service day we do all of the grocery shopping (usually at several different stores for the best quality and price). We arrive at your home with all our own tools and equipment ready to prepare your custom menu. Your meals are carefully packaged, clearly labeled, and left in the refrigerator or freezer with complete instructions on how to enjoy. When we leave, your kitchen is left spotless and the house is filled with the wonderful aromas of home cooking. All you have to do is come home, enjoy your home-cooked meal and savor your “thyme”.

Q. What does a Personal Chef do?

A. A personal Chef helps people with busy lives eat better and healthier with ease and convenience. Gourmet food is prepared in your home and stored in the refrigerator or freezer based upon your lifestyle needs. Best of all, menus are created just for you according to you and your families dining preferences and dietary needs and/or requirements.

Q. Who needs a Personal Chef?

A. You do! Families today are over scheduled and live hectic lives. Many are either too busy to cook, dislike cooking, or tired of the hassle and rising cost of restaurants and take out. Keeping up with your busy schedules and putting quality food on the dinner table becomes quite a challenge. Do you relate to any of the following categories?

  • Busy Professionals, Couples and Individuals
  • Active Families
  • Independent Seniors
  • New Parents
  • People on special diets
  • People with weight loss goals
  • People recovering from injury or illness
  • People looking to give the “gift of thyme”
  • When you want to enjoy your own dinner party
  • Those who don’t know how to cook
  • Those who dislike cooking
  • Those who enjoy and appreciate homemade gourmet meals

Q. How does this service work?

A. First we meet to conduct a detailed food questionnaire so that we can understand your food preferences and dietary needs. Then, customized menus are researched, developed, and created for your approval. We will then set up a day and time to personally shop and prepare your meals in your home. Your gourmet dinners are packaged, labeled, and left in the refrigerator or freezer with complete instructions on how to enjoy. When we leave your home, your kitchen is left spotless and the house is filled with the aromas of home cooking.

Q. This sounds great but can I afford a Personal Chef?

A. When you consider the cost of groceries, the time to plan a variety of healthy meals, shopping, cooking, and clean up time, you’ll find the pricing to be quite affordable. Some of our clients have found that they actually save money since their fresh and/or organic food is cooked immediately, and not allowed to spoil.

Q. Do you cook in my kitchen?

A. Yes, all meals are cooked in the safety of the clients kitchen. We bring our own tools and equipment and leave the kitchen spotless when we are finished.

Q. How long will you be in my kitchen?

A. That depends on how many meals and the menu that has been selected for the cooking date. Typically, the service takes four to five hours from start to finish.

Q. Do I have to be home when you come to cook?

A. No, you do not have to be home on your scheduled cook date as long as appropriate arrangements are made in advance for us to gain access to your home.

Q. How is the food packaged?

A. A variety of containers are used depending on the food. We discuss this at the consultation. Some containers are aluminum or plastic with recycling in mind. Most are microwavable, stackable, refrigerator-freezer friendly, leak-resistant, durable, and economical.

Q. How difficult is it to heat meals?

A. Heating meals is very easy and convenient. We will leave detailed heating instructions for each entree and side dish appropriate for either the oven or microwave. You may also request grill-ready items for you to cook on your BBQ. Great for warm weather cookouts.

Q. How do I get started?

A. Just contact Chef Shelly via phone or email to schedule a complimentary in-home consultation. We will sit down with you to complete a comprehensive questionnaire detailing your dietary needs, preferences, and lifestyle requirements. From there, custom menus are created by Chef Shelly, approved by you, and a service date is scheduled. So what are you waiting for? Contact Savoring Thyme today.
