Savoring Thyme

a personal chef and catering service

WE’VE GOT DINNER, SO YOU’LL HAVE THYME

About Us

Shelly, her husband, an Air Force officer, and son have lived all over the United States.  She has experienced every culture and cuisine America has to offer.  This shows in her cooking, which she is now excited to share with you.  Her roots, though, are in San Antonio, Texas where she comes from a long line of amazing cooks including her uncle who was once the executive chef and owner of The Brownstone in Houston, Texas. Her menu is sprinkled with southwestern flavors and flare; her guacamole is to die for!

Great food isn’t the only thing Shelly brings to her customers. Equally important are service and presentation. Savoring Thyme is all about the client. The business is designed around the client’s lifestyle, personal tastes and preferences, and dietary needs. “I spend one-on-one time with you defining your expectations and creating a personalized menu. I then grocery shop, cook in your home, package your meals, and clean up, leaving your home spotless. Finally I provide detailed instructions for final food preparation. You enjoy gourmet meals in your own home and ‘savor your thyme.’”

Although Shelly emphasizes the personal chef aspect of her business, she also offers catering services. As an Air Force wife, Shelly has thrown dozens of parties hosting hundreds of people. “I’ve always been told I should start my own catering business. After moving around for 11 years Santa Clarita feels like home, so I decided to go for it!”

Sous Chef Gregg Anderson joined the United States Coast Guard at the age of eighteen. Immediately after graduating from boot camp, Gregg Anderson graduated from Training Center Petaulma as a Seaman Food Service Specialist. His first tour was at Integrated Support Command San Pedro where we quickly learned how to cater high-end food for Admirals and dignitaries such as congressman and foreign diplomats. After serving several other military stations and ships from Central America to Alaska, Gregg picked up advanced culinary skills from over one hundred fellow colleges he cooked with and attended numerous training such as Johnson and Wales University for advanced culinary arts. After advancing to the rank of Food Service Specialist Second Class, his last unit consisted of his own "galley" on a United States Coast Guard Patrol Boat for two years. After an honorable discharge, Gregg has been attending College of the Canyons full time as a business student, volunteered with the American Red Cross, co-chartered the Future Business Leaders of America Chapter at COC, holds an internship position at the Small Business Development Center, and is a member of the Junior Chamber International.

Whether cooking or business, Gregg has a strong passion for life and food which led him to flourish with his passion for culinary arts through cohesively working with the talented Chef Shelly Maddocks. Together the team will flare up your taste buds and give you a new perspective on what good food tastes like. Basically, you'll wonder why you still dine out when you know where to get great, consistent, and high-quality cuisine - right here at Savoring Thyme!
